Visitors to our North Gallery often ask “what is that round/sphere sign?”

Some guests even refer to it as “the golf ball.” It is not a golf ball, but rather a portion of a Denny’s restaurant sign. We have both the Denny’s logo and the sphere in the North Gallery. The Denny’s logo is set behind a Binion’s Horseshoe sign in the North Gallery, whereas the sphere is more visible.

You can see the Denny’s sign in the background of a photograph of a 4 Queens billboard that was taken by Federal Heath (date unknown, likely sometime in the 1980s). The Denny’s sign in our collection is still a bit mysterious as it could have come from several locations in the Las Vegas Valley, including the location near the Sands, or one near the Westward Ho, or the one seen in this photo.
